About Us
R A Gibson is a family business that has been trading since 1947.
We are farmers first and are adopting a regenerative farming approach, with careful management of our soils, along with direct drilling, all assisted by our agronomist Joe from Edaphos.
We farm 550Ha, across 2 sites, with nearly all of this drilled with C1 seed. This enables us to have a good selection of C2 winter wheat varieties and also spring crops and pulses for customers.
Since the early 1970’s we have been a seed grower and merchant, with this side of the business developed by Mark Gibson, our father.
We work closely with trade partners and breeders to stay at the forefront of the seed market. Being a small family business enables us to be able to offer flexibility with seed & treatments, whilst remaining competitively priced.
Ross Gibson
Managing Director
I joined the family business in February 2021 after working for William Powell, a country sport retailer, for 5 years. Working in retail and managing their gunroom gave me a great insight to how important customer service is and other functions of running a business that directly relate to ours. Working on the farm for the past 3 years, I have gained practical experience with cropping, machinery and most importantly the seed plant. I have adjusted to being a farmer, demonstrated by the fact that the weather already being the bane of my life – luckily Rosie is on hand for that! I implemented an overhaul of the dated seed plant, which now has a new colour sorter, seed cleaner and master control panel. I enjoy working with people and numbers, and with my sales skill set aim to deliver continued business growth.
Rosie Reynolds
Managing Director
In partnership with my brother Ross, I joined the farm management team in December 2023. I am a meteorologist by trade and have worked at the Met Office for 13 years prior. My weather forecasting career evolved to focus on management and leadership, which I now bring to R A Gibson and this complements Ross’s skill set. Whilst these things seem wildly different on paper, I am finding being involved with a family business and transferring my skills to something new really enjoyable. I am motivated by working through challenging situations and finding opportunities, I enjoy the bumps in the road and no doubt farming will provide plenty of those! I look forward to speaking to and meeting our customers and stakeholders over the coming year.
